1.2.1 Binary installation

Currently, Hoot is available from only one GNU/Linux distribution: GNU Guix. Guix may also be used as an additional package manager on top of another distribution such as Debian.

If you have Guix, trying Hoot is easy:

guix shell guile-next guile-hoot

This will create a temporary shell environment in which you can try Hoot. It’s important that the guile-next package is included because Hoot currently relies upon features in Guile that have not yet made it into a stable release.
